IMMIGRATION SUPPORT GROUP
IMMIGRATION SUPPORT GROUP
SUSTAINING THE WORK:
A VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR IMMIGRATION ATTORNEYS & STAFF
Are you a full-time or pro bono immigration attorney, paralegal, case worker, activist, or otherwise engaged in the immigration rights’ space?
Do you feel overwhelmed as you work in a broken system?
Do you have a hard time shutting off from the work and engaging with family, friends, and other parts of your life?
Do you wonder how much longer you can keep doing this work?
February 2026
Online
Immigration legal work has always required stamina and moral clarity—and this past year has demanded this even more.
Attorneys, paralegals, and others are carrying impossible caseloads, navigating rapidly changing policies, and absorbing the trauma and fear experienced by their clients.
Many are also confronting ethical tension, burnout, and the emotional toll of trying to uphold their values inside a system that feels increasingly untenable.
KonTerra Counseling is launching a six-session, bi-weekly online support group designed specifically for professionals working in immigration rights. This is a confidential, supportive place to connect with peers, share and reflect on experiences, and receive guidance from trauma-informed clinicians who specialize in working with professionals in high-stakes environments.
This group is for you if you:
Are feeling exhausted and burned out
Can’t turn off your brain or feel overwhelmed because of the pain and suffering of your clients
Find the things that used to help you manage stress are no longer working
Feel burdened by the impossible and terrible choices you have to make while doing the best you can for your clients
Want to be with others who understand your day-to-day reality
Begins February 2026

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Hi! I’m Donnica. I’m a bilingual Licensed Independent Social Worker and have worked in the US and internationally. I have deep ties to the humanitarian and development fields and understand the unique pressures that can accompany service-driven work, advocacy, and high-stakes environments.
For the past five years, I have conducted mental health assessments for individuals navigating immigration proceedings. I am also an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law School, supporting students in developing a trauma-informed practice. I also have several years of experience volunteering with Rainbow Railroad, supporting newly arrived LGBTQ+ refugees in the DMV region. This work reflects my values and my commitment to welcoming and loving my neighbors.
My goal for this group is to cultivate a safe, brave, and engaging space where you can deepen connection with yourself and others, reclaim strength, and carry forward your work with intention and care.
